Pairing a Mac

Pairing links one Mac — a hub — to your organization, so the shows you build here appear there. It is typed in once per Mac and survives restarts, updates and the person who did it leaving the church.

How to do it

  1. Open Flyrail on the room's Mac. It shows an eight-character code and a short address.
  2. On any device, sign in here and open Hubs.
  3. Type the code and give the Mac a name you will recognise — "Kids room", not "iMac (2)".
  4. The Mac picks up the link within a few seconds and shows your organization's name.

What the code is and is not

The code is short because somebody reads it off a television and types it on a phone. It is not a password: it expires, it is single use, and on its own it gives nobody access to anything. The credential the Mac ends up holding is issued to the Mac, not to you — which is why a volunteer who pairs a hub and then leaves does not take the room's access with them.

Unlinking a Mac

Hubs → Revoke. The Mac loses its credential and its licence the next time it checks, and stops syncing. Shows already on it stay on it and still play — pulling the plug on a machine mid-service is not something an admin screen should be able to do by accident.

How many Macs you can link

One per room, and your plan sets the number: Free one, Ministry two, Campus and School six. A hub belongs to exactly one organization. If a Mac moves between two churches, revoke it in the first before pairing it in the second.

If it does not link

Codes expire, so get a fresh one from the Mac rather than retyping an old one. Check you are signed in to the organization you think you are — the switcher at the top left says which. If you are at your plan's hub limit, the code is accepted and the link refused, and the Hubs page says so.
